Why do Permanent Cosmetics fade?Understanding the body's role is crucial in luxury services such as PMU, Hair & Nails. Just as the body grows hair, it is advisable to revisit your hairstylist for touch-ups on new growth and roots. The same applies to nails +fills. Similarly with PMU the body's immune system will gradually eliminate pigment molecules, causing the PMU to lighten, hence Color Refreshers are suggested every one to two years. From the moment the pigment is introduced into the skin, the immune system springs into action. It recognizes the pigment as a foreign substance and attempts to eliminate it by absorbing the pigment molecules and expelling them through the body's waste systems. Additional factors such as sweating, oily skin, sun exposure, chemical peels, personal hygiene, and medications also influence the frequency of necessary Color Refresher appointments. At the Color Refresh appointment, the PMU is redone, and new pigment is added to replenish the color that has faded or shifted in tone leaving the client with fresh vibrant PMU.

What are Nano Brows?Nano Brows are a form of permanent eyebrow enhancement technique that uses a specialized tattoo machine to implant pigment into the skin with an ultra-fine sterilized single needle, mimicking natural eyebrow hairs. The result is a natural-looking, fuller, more symmetrical eyebrow that lasts up to 1-2 years with proper care. A Color Refresher is recommended every 1-2 years depending on your immune system, sun exposure, personal hygiene, skin type, etc.

Is it painful? Most people report only feeling minor pressure or discomfort and less pain than a typical tattoo due to the use of highly effective anesthetics, before, during and after the procedure. Some level of discomfort should be expected, but everyone has a different threshold. Some may take a nap while others may feel more sensitive. It is advised to schedule before or after your menstrual cycle as you will be more sensitive during that time.

How long does it last? The longevity of permanent cosmetics vary from client to client. Generally, Eyebrows can last up to 1-3 years or more whereas Eyeliner and Lips can last 2-4 years. Results vary depending on client’s skin types, aftercare and lifestyles (sun exposure, chemical peels, exercise/sweat, smoking, etc.). On average most clients require a touch up session every 1-2 years. There are no guarantees as to how long your permanent cosmetics will last so it is essential that it's understood that regular maintenance is required in order to keep the pigment looking vibrant and fresh.
